New Socket-A Motherboard advice.....

Ok, I know this has been talked to death but it would seem that it may depend on what you are going to use on your new mb and what you need to do with it.

SO here goes....

I have this right now,

Asus P2B (being replaced)
P-2 (also being replaced)
3 128mb sticks of Mushkin rev.2
Seagate 20gb 7200 ata-66
SB Live
Hercules TNT2 Ultra 32mb
Realtek 8139 nic
Acer 8432 cd-rw w/8mb buffer (Ide)
Regular cd-rom 40x
May add a Ibm ata-100 30gb drive
May also add a pioneer dvd player

You see here that I need alot of ide (raid not need be used)

I will be getting a T-Bird 1ghz w/ fop 32 or so
May want to overclock to 1100 or 1200 if possible.

I just don't know if I want the Asus A7V, the Abit KT7-Raid (for the ide ports)
or the now popular msi boards that are being talked about.

I want stability, IDE ports, good support and bios updates, and some o/cin' ability.

NOW what would you guys say about what may be MY best choice??

Thx guys for your help...

I would go with the MSI K7T PRO2,great stability, overclocking,& good Bios support in updates,if you need more then four Harddrives(IDE wise) I would just stick in another ATA-100 controller card.

🙂

Go with the MSI board. The k7t pro2 is a rock solid, and it allows for overclocking. Like mem said, go with a prmoise card if you need more ide ports.

try the msi k7t pro2a, the 'a' means it supports ata/100
its at www.atacom.com or www.openlinx.com there are threads on this board discussing the purchase of this board at these stores so search for that
i was looking for a Mobo for my duron too and have decided on the pro2 also

Thanks guys...sounds great!

I will most likely go for the MSI.

It will be cheaper too and less of a loss when I go for a DDR.

It's all becoming clearer now......he he
