I wonder how much those overclock?

.18 or .13 micron?

Yes where are the reviews?

Woop-dee-doo. Does anyone really want a Willamette-128 Celeron? It's just the old P4 with less cache.

Really, a Tualatin 1 ghz Celeron OC'd to 1.33GHZ should be faster (except Memory Benchmarks)

BTW, it's listed as a mPGA CPU. Isn't that a Mobile Celeron ?

I seriously doubt it.

I personally would just get a Northwood 1.6A.

Heh.
You know as well as I do that most of society buying PC's from Wal-Mart will see "1.7Ghz" and snap 'em up like hotcakes! Then go home and install AOL.

These sadly are .18 Williamette based cores. It is cool. and I will look forward to tomorrow AM, but its not really huge. They prolly will perform on par with Williamette in some situations, but will suck in others (provided they don't cripple the cache like they did with Coppermine128). And to be honest, the price does not impress me. Still, it is good to see the Celeron finally moving to NetBurst Architechure. These will definately not compete with Northwoods in the same clock speed, and will not compete with the XP 1700+ either, so its not looking good, but considering Intel's power, they'll prolly be a hit.

The Celerons were getting pretty good (Tualeron .13u 256K cache with data prefetch). These were also very cool running low power usage CPU's. The .18u 128K P4 Celeries seem like a step backward.

Couldn't be closer to the truth, who knows, maybe they'll OC like crazy.

People said the same thing about the Pentium 4 when it first came out. Now you guys are sucking Intel's phat one with 1.6A's all over the place:D

Socket-370 is dead...get over it. 478 is the way of the future (for Intel) and like the Pentium 4, the Celeron will start off a bit slow but ramp up quickly.

Interesting part #s.

Retail Celeron CuMine 1 GHz 128K cache: BX80526F1000128
Retail Celeron Tually 1 GHz 256K cache: BX80530F1000256
Retail Celeron Willie 1.7 GHz 128K cache: BX80530F1700256

I'm sure the OEM's will absolutely love it.... they'll be able to advertise 1.7GHz at a cheap price. Look's like AMD will soon need a PR model rating system for the desktop Duron's.

The Willamette P4 wasnt terribly impressive IMHO, and a Willamette with half the cache will be noticeably less impressive. It's clear that the NetBurst core architecture really likes a decent amount of L2.

I'll be interested in seeing some benchmarks. Perhaps it will at least serve to put Intel back on level with the Duron's.
As the Tually Celeron's despite their nice overclockability, and respectable heat output was still trailing the Duron by roughly 100MHz worth of performance overall... though it was pretty close clock for clock in integer performance.

I'm sure they'll be a huge hit though... it's 1.7GHz and it's cheap that's all the average consumer will see.
