PLEASE advise: I just purchased a new Plasma Smart/3D HDTV, naturally, it's HDMI 1.4x, the AVR I presently have in my setup is a Pioneer 1019 which is the older HDMI V. 1.3x. My salesman told me this would not be a problem I would be able to basically use it w/o any problems. The new set has an Ethernet connection and so I can bypass the WiFi and go direct with an E. Cable.
Please tell me, my salesman was correct, and I don't have to now plunk out more BIG $ to upgrade my AVR............Hoping!

The difference is 3D. Your AVR (or any HDMI 1.3 AVR) can't pass through 3D signals.

If you don't care about 3D, leave the glasses in the box and no issue.

If you care about 3D, you will need a new AVR.

Not if he feeds the 3d source to one of the tv Hdmi input and use the TVs optical out to the avr. newer tv do output 5.1 audio from the tv hdmi inputs. At least mine does.

This might be too much of an assle for the OP but it is possible.

THANKS fellas, I just may be "blessed" [in luck] I have been reading the on line Manual of my new Sammy 8500, and also studying the expensive Adapter I had to buy and install from a computer etc. ending up into HDMI 3 - to get 3D functional on my present Sammy 61" DLP HDTV......I am now thinking that if I just connect he new HDTV same a this one with this adapter in the loop......I may just continue to be able to view 3D too. Hope so......save some MOOLAA....need to after buying this NEW Plasma, verk of art!:)
