Also, was that an alienware computer in the reporter chick's office?

Naw, i don't think he loves his fiance as much as he claims... especially if you watched today's episodes.

I think his father is going to beat him to the secret, and obtain some sort of power. Clark is going to need to kill his father, and does. Lex is going to find out what the power was, and wants it as well... and that's going to pit them against one another.

Of course, along the way Lex is going to turn more evil... like tonight's episode. He's going to show how selfish he really is for power, even if it means betraying the person he loves most. I knew he was going to betray his fiance, and he does in this episode... and what has she done to him? No, Clark's keeping his secret doesn't turn him evil. His dad doesn't turn him evil. He does it himself as he gets more curious.

Yep. Lex's father lies to him all his life and now someone whom he thought was his only friend has lied to him. Not only does his only friend lies to him but his only friend doesn't trust him.

LOL so lack of love is what makes him evil? He has his fiance and he betrays her for no reason.

But Clark doesn't trust Lex enough to share his secret like he does with Pete Ross. But from every episode that I've seen, Lex has never betrayed Clark.

So? Since he doesn't share his secret with Lana, does that mean he's not friends with her? Before he shared his secret with Pete, does that mean he wasn't friends with Pete?

Like i said, you're really naive if you think he turns bad just because Clark doesn't share his secret with Lex or that he doesn't have any real friends.

In the past, Lex has said that he feels that Clark is his only true friend. In a lot of the episodes, Lex will sometimes ask Clark if he there is something that he wants to tell him (as if Lex suspects that Clark is hiding something from him). Meanwhile, Lex has done nothing to betray his friendship with Clark while Clark's family (and Clark himself) has openly questioned Lex's intentions.

I believe that Lex's father is the reason he will turn bad but I think that Clark's friendship would have saved him. In the end, Lex will feel like he has no friends.

I still don't understand how you're equating Clark not telling him his secret as betraying the friendship. And yes, he's been prying into Clark's background since the very beginning.... that's why he suspects Clark is hiding something. So who is betraying who?

The whole show is foreshadowed with the issues of trust and friendship. Lana and Chloe are always complaining to Clark that he is hiding something from them. They open up to him and yet he doesn't to them. To them this indicates a lack of true friendship. Friends don't hide things from friends.

Hehe, I better stop reading this thread -- I don't want to read any spoilers (can't watch the show until 5/17 because of my stupid Baltimore station).

Of course his true secret is an important part of the show... that's part of the Superman appeal, who his identity is. But like i said, what started Lex on the path towards evil first? Clark not sharing his secret, or Lex obsession with prying into Clark's secret? You think if Clark told him his secret, everything would be hunky-dory? That's so naive. He would be using Clark to his advantage, and trying to figure out how to obtain that same power.

I hate previews, so i didn't bother to watch it... but 'another lame smallville season finale'? Are you kidding? Last season had me going crazy wanting to know what happened. Hell, i might not watch it and just download it when next season comes along, just because i hate the suspense.

that was a great ep, good to see Clark and Lana finally go at it for real...and it was nice to have the storyline back to normal again (no weird movie renditions like weeks passed)...should be a good season finale: Lana and Clark are hooking up, Lex is turning evil, Clark's being called in (Kal-El and the Last Son)...Chloe's gonna muddy up the waters a bit, now that she's seen C & L kissing...

mmmm.

Lana annoys me with her "Look at me, look at me, I'm sooo innocent!" look.

Lex has always been "evil" - it just sort of came to be in last season's finale when his father was trapped asking for help.

Regarding Lex and Clark and betraying each other - Lex betrayed his friendship with Clark by investigating his family, the crash, suspecting Clark of things, and having an entire room full of stuff dedicated to investigating everything there is to know about the Kent family. Pete is his best friend and has nothing to gain from exposing Clark. Lex has everything to gain. Chloe - look at how she reacted when that one kid got Clark's powers last season. Her jounalistic nature would be her downfall and she'd expose Clark. Not to mention with the rift b/t them now - his secret would be gone pretty quick if Luthor offered up a hefty sum to her. Lana would have nothing to benefit from it but Clark has no reason to tell her.

the whole cave thing tho. It was Kal el's fathers intent that he rule this world. He chooses NOT to follow the plan that his biological father has set out for him but until he makes that decision next weeks episode and next seasons premiere will be VERY VERY interesting. :)

My prediction is that Lex will turn evil the moment that he kills his father. He's come close to it a few times already and I think that will finally push him over the edge. Also, maybe in a twist of irony, the "last son will begin his quest to rule the third planet" line ends up referring to Lex instead of Clark.

I love this show.

Was it just me, or did anyone else get goosebumps when they heard hints of the music from the Superman movies?

Smallville rocks!
