My wife has been wanting a new snowmobile that was more capable than what she has ridden in the past, and after watching one of the big snowmobile DVD's that just came out for this season, we got motivated to get her sled upgraded.

She used to run a Yamaha Phazer (80hp), and it was a little tipsy and underpowered for her, so a bigger sled was in order. We decided on this lightly used sled, a 2012 Arctic Cat Proclimb M800 Sno Pro, with a 162x2.6" Powerclaw track.

We are looking forward to seeing how it compares to my Turbo Sled, hopefully the snow comes sooner rather than later.

I really didn't expect to see actual sleds in this thread. The winter must be coming, I guess. Fuck.

LOL, this.....

OP - nice upgrade for the wife. That probably has about 2x the power of her old sled?

Yes, that motor should put out about 160hp, plus the track, chassis, and suspension are light years ahead of the older one, so it should be a lot more comfortable on the trail and much easier to lay on its side when off trail (most of our ridding is off trail in the backcountry, in the trees where it is steep and deep).

Its funny that she says that 80hp was to little. The snowmobile i had i was only about 40 or so. I have not gone out in years at this point, since mine got stolen, but its on my list to get another one soon because i miss it. I spent a TON of my childhood out on a snowmobile.

Edit: I also have not ridden on this "new" generation of machines that started with the Skidoo Rev, but i miss how the old ones look. I don't like this new snubnose design. I have heard they ride way better, but i just don't like the looks as much. I like the mid 2000's designs better in general. That being said, thats a sweet looking sled and i am super jealous.

If you think 160 is a lot, you should check out the sled on the trailer with it. That is doing around 330hp at 17lbs of boost using half av gas and half premium, at elevation. Being a 4 stroke it is a heavy pig, but she has it where it counts.

I think i would actually be scared to drive that. The most powerful snowmobile i have ever driven was a Arctic Cat ZR800(i think that was the model, i just know it was 800cc) and was like a 2007 or so model. That was scary fast to me, so i cant even imagine 330.

I am so glad this is actually a sled thread!

Where do you guys go?

We have 5 sno parks within 30 minutes from our house, but our main one I about 20 minutes away. And can get us up to 9,000ft or so. Plus there is a nice warming shelter provided by our local snowmobile club, so it is our favorite place to ride.

Here is a picture of our riding area a whole back, New Year's Day 2013 -

Well, that sled isn't built for speed it is built for climbing. That long track with the 3" tall lugs will actually keep you from getting going to quick, but it will dig a crazy amount of powder. That sled is best for when the snow is in bottomless powder conditions, that is where it shines. A trail or racing sled is going to have a much different track and suspension compared to a mountain sled. The one thing I love to do to show off that power is to use it to pop a wheelie on command. Very hard to do on a 162" 4 stroke without that much power.

Here is a video showing a wheelie with a similar turbo nytro -

Some people are already getting out, this picture was posted on Snowest from some riders in Wyoming. Winter is coming, and it cannot come fast enough.

Winter? It is supposed to be 100 degrees here today... I would have zero use for a device like that. I'll be riding my motorcycle in February.
