right i just recently acquired a ASROCK 4Core dual VSTA AND Pentium 4 2.93 Process and 1GB of ddr400 (elixir) ram as my mate only wanted £20 for it. anyway i decided i might aswell get the C2D E4300 so i ordered that but my brother said that the C2D will need DDR2 memory but my mate sais the motherboard is designed for either DDR or DDR2 and that i can probably use either to work with the processor i just need this clearing up for me thanks so i can decide now to buy some new ram, also i will be running this on my XFX 6600GT 128mb whilst i wait til the end of month so i can get a new card but i have a few in mind and cant decide which one i want to but here are the options

XFX GeForce 8600GT Fatal1ty 256MB GDDR3, PCI-Express, 2xDVI/HDTV, 620/1700Mhz

XFX GeForce 7600GT Fatal1ty 256MB GDDR3, PCI-Express, 2xDVI/HDTV, 650/1600Mhz

Sparkle 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 DVI-I PCI-E Graphics Card

XFX 7600GT 256MB DDR3 Dual DVI PCI-E Graphics Card Clock rate - 590MHz Memory Clock - 1.6 GHz

if there is any other cards out there that people would recommend let me know, im not fussed on having the latest this and that like DX10, because getting a solid DX9 card is better than a DX10 as i dont see the point in having DX10 if it cant handle the DX10 Features if you know what i mean ?

thanks dan

No you don't have to have DDR2, but with DDR there will likely be a performance bottleneck, so I would buy some DDR2's.

Go with the XFX GeF 8600GT, that way you have DX10 support for the future just in case you do decide to move to Vista and it has really good HD encoding.

Sparkle has good cooling solutions but they tend to require more power.
