The Windows CLI version is quite a bit faster than the GUI version, and there are third party tools that can provide the graphics. 🙂

I don't know if you have seen it before or not but if you are looking for maximum speed follow the installation instructions here.

Also turn off screen savers and make sure that hard drives aren't set to power down at all in the power options.

I have another rig in my basement that I use when my friends and I play LAN games, can I set up SETI on that computer under the same name or do i have to get a completely different ID?
 
You can use the same ID!

That's how so many people here have outrageous daily averages, like 150/day! 🙂

Just set it up with option 2, to use an existing account, and enter the same email address you used to originally set it up 🙂

I'm going to install the CLI interface as soon as my wu is done (94%) and on the help page for setting it up i saw something about Orange Kid's proxy. Should I set that up too?
 
Using a proxy is a very good idea, as we have had many times in the past when there have been problems connecting to Berkeley to get WUs. These down times have included plain old lack of bandwidth (they now have a 100mbit line, so that should be ok for a while 😉), router problems and even contractors cutting the fibre optic line (which took it down for almost a week!) :Q


We have many many public Proxies set up and offered to the Team by many members! You can check in this thread and pick one that is close to you, or just one that you like the thought of using! 🙂


And as for setting it up on friend's computers....that's goood! 😀
