New SETI client slower?

It seems that the 3.03 SETI client is alot slower than the previous one...has anyone else noticed this????

earthman: Yep, it's much slower than the 3.0 client. The reason is it's doing more analysis of the WU's. Good for science but bad for stats.

Yep, it's slower.
We are doing more analysis on each WU which give us a better chance of finding ET and also saves on bandwidth for Berkeley.

That is really lame!!!! I have also noticed it is slower...went from about 8.5 hrs. per WU to almost 14 hrs!!! 🙁

Anyone know how to get 3.0 back???

Just uninstall the 3.3 and reinstall the 3.0 that what I did. My time went from 6.5hours to 9 or 10 hours. I'll run the 3.0 till I have to change. I hope you've got your 3.0 copy back up somewhere.

Yep It slower about 80-90 Hours on my P100 laptop

With version 3.0.3 I noted that the number of floating point operations increased by about 50%. With 3.0 the average &quot;normal&quot; WU requires 2.83 TeraFLOPs to process, while version 3.0.3 states that 4.11 TeraFLOPs will be required. I got this info from SetiSpy.

it is much slower my 1.1 tbird takes about 8 hours

but we will all have to upgrade to it
at some point. ( i am only running it on 2 cpu's right now
and will wait for awhile before i upgrade all the others)

I totally agree with ya' Snowy but, it's kind of a mixed bag as far as feelings toward the new client. Those of us without 1Ghz machines are going to start looking like some major slackers--our stats will suffer just like everyone else's but ya' gotta admit it hurts. Just a little? 😉

It's going to be hard to watch our averages slip away but, oh well! I guess I would rather find ET and if this new client does in fact help the cause then I guess I'm behind it 100%.
