Windows application version 4.08 is released. It should fix the graphics preferences problem.

As always, the new application will be automatically downloaded then asking for more work, but any previously downloaded work will use the old version. So if got a 14-day-cache, don't expect to start using it for a fortnight. 😉

BTW, v4.08 is only released for windows, other OS is still using v4.02.

I guess you mean "closer". 😛

Well, as long as they've not got any seti-bugs to hunt for, they can use this time programming core client instead. But except for BOINC API-changes, most seti-programming is done by other people than then core-client so really no change.

Also, it's the separate gui & hardware they're waiting for not the seti-application. 😉

Well with that release ... when is the expected day of termination of the Seti-Classic project ???

Do I have 140 days left to make it to 10K or is that a far fetched Dream

M<ark...😕

maybe TaBoo should be helping you out, given they have already reached their goal of getting Ass1 over 40K and seem to be just rolling along with more and moer WUs for him....

Come on TaBoo... help out, theres good chaps...

Doc, PM me yer seti email addy.... I'll add some machines for ya..

Well, for a long time the release of the separate gui have been the target for "M2 - Decommission old SETI@home", but the latest mentioned is when the BOINC-servers can take the load of 500k more users...
It's currently impossible to know when any of these targets will be met.

Alpha got the v4.56-build today, and this version is mainly to test-out the "Single-user mode", so service-install is disabled. From a quick look it seems it's working more or less as it should, but there's still atleast one bug of %done is stuck on zero.

Service-install was working in v4.55, so most likely it's just to make sure both methods is working as they should and the bugs is squished, before the windows-gui is ready for release. Still, there can be some more alpha-builds before they're found all bugs, and if more features is being added...

For non-windows there's still not been any alpha-builds released.

For windows installation options, http://boinc.berkeley.edu/win_install.php

The new alpha/beta/test-project-server is "After some struggles with mysql and Python, the new BOINC server is now functional."

For other server, the last mentioned is this: Date: Fri, 19 Nov 2004 10:54:36 -0800
SETI@home is in the process of ordering an Opteron
(either 2 or 4 CPU, 8 or 16 GB RAM, not determined yet).
This will be our MySQL server, and will probably run Linux.
Apparently there's currently a Linux bug that prevents a
process from using > 4GB memory.
So we may end up running Solaris if it's available by then.

We expect that this will give us the DB performance we need to
transition all users from SETI@home Classic to SETI@home BOINC.

Well i was personally boosed to 5k then to 10k 😉

That's cool (no pun intended) but Rig T is deserving of a boost ... to 10K and I will keep on slugging it out and assist the team Taboo with Team Taboo ... which BTW crossed the 100 mark today ... getting closer to 1K every day ...

When Seti Classic ends ... I think I would like to see what else is in the DC community ... like FInd a Drug, or some of the others ... I have been crunching Seti since Fri Mar 8 19:11:30 2002 UTC and my machine was so slow that I did 1 unit every 26 hours ...(of course that was using the GUI screen saver because I knew of NO other way to make it work ....

Later Cool ...

M<ark ....
