New server rack with A/C...

Parkre

Senior member
I just got one...free. I had pull out all the special cords and special power supplies, but I got that done. Now it's just a 6' rack with an AC unit attached to the side. And it spits out cold air.

But now that I've gotten it, I not sure what to with it. I am more of a gamer than anything, so originally I just want the AC unit. It's about 5" wide, 20" tall, and maybe 30" deep. It blows straight into the rack. It's a solid steel rack design for extreme off-road conditions put in the back of a what most people think is a garbage truck. And yes, we do go off-road and mudding with these "garbage trucks" just to get to our location.

So, any ideas what to do with this awesome rack?

You will need to vent the hot exhaust air somewhere, which would likely involve modifications of your off-road vehicle. Hopefully, you won't be cutting holes in the vehicle's walls.

No, It's not for my off-road vehicle. It came off a Logger (not wood logs), but data aquisition for gas and oil wells.

Venting it wouldn't be a problem.

My only problem is that I don't have enough computers or pc racks to fill it up. And what would I do with 5 or 6 computers.

I could incorporate a media pc, my gaming pc, a downloading machine, but then what else? I don't really need all three into one rack.

I have no idea, what I would even do if I had that rack. Just put whatever you can into it to make it look 'cool' I guess. Do you have anywhere you want to put it?

wait... what did you do with all the "special cords and power supplies"? sounds like an awsome find.

naw, they were proprietary stuff for our tools. Nothing special other than they are very expensive.

But does anybody have any idea with what to do with it?
