Hi guys, I am looking to buy a cheap cpu/mobo combo for gaming. I have $150 and can get a Chaintec Nforce3 for $50. That leaves $100 for a cpu. How do the new palermo Semprons perform. I am trying to decide between those, $100ish, an A64 2800, $70 used, or a Sempron 2600, $74. What do you think? I have no problem with waiting a couple weeks for prices to go down.

depends on the games....my wife is a light gamer and her sempron 2300 paired with a geforce Ti4200 128mb does very well for her, i think however that the video card will play a much greater role in heavier gaming than the cpu......what video card do you plan to use?

6200 softmodded to unlock all 8 pipelines and overclocked close to 6600gt speeds. Scores 2700 in 3dmar05.

I thought the socket 754 semprons were the paris core- the 64 bit extensions are disabled, and has less cache than the other K8 cores.
