New select / right click behavior in windows Vista/7

Has anybody else noticed that they are not successful at doing a select + right click on an item in the windows file browser (the first time after switching to the window)?

After XP, I've noticed that I've been unable to do this...the default behavior has now become just a right click without the item being pointed to becoming selected.

It's annoying and I find myself having to click away from the opened right-click menu, then left-click to select the desired item, then right clicking again...

Anybody else notice this? And its not my mouse driver, because its happened on multiple boxes, with different devices on them.

Doesn't do that in either my Vista or Win 7 systems. By "file browser," I assume you mean Windows Explorer? When I right click in WinEx on a file, it opens a menu. One of the choices among other choices is simply OPEN.

What exactly are you trying to do? Right click has always opened a menu, ever since Win98.
