New SCSI Drive or Video Card?

I am trying to decide what to upgrade in my system, and I have come down to two possibilities. I am thinking either:

1. Get a new Fujitsu 15,000 RPM SCSI drive, since those Fujitsu's are currently the fastest SCSI drive out there. My current drive is a first gen Seagate Cheetah, which is again first generation SCSI and only has a 4MB cache.

2. Upgrade my Radeon 9700 Pro to a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra.

Any suggestions or recommendations on which one I should improve if I want the best performance possible? Thanks

Go for the SCSI

The 9700 Pro is still a great card that can run about any game with max settings

I love having my 9700 Pro and 10K SCSI drive

Go for the hard drive; the Radeon 9700 Pro is still plenty fast for just about every game out there.

Another vote for the HD. Between the 2 options, it sounds more like your system bottle neck.

Both of those are pretty good, do you have enough memory?

Maybe you could take your gf out on a date with the money ;)

Definately the drive. I have an older system (built like a fortress 3 years ago). The best upgrade I ever did was a Fujitsu MAG318LP, pretty sure its a 10k drive, so f'in fast. my system is a P3 600mhz w/ 256mb of ram. But the scsi drive makes it perform like a star! still kicking....

In fact I am thinking about parting with my processor/mobo/ram but I just dont know if I'll see the performance difference for the money and effort it will take. So I'll hold off till doom3 comes out.

SCSI !!

Tells how the Fujitsu compares to the Cheetah as far as noise is concerned.

I also have a early Cheetah & it's very noisy. It makes a loud whine which is very annoying.

Go for the hard disk upgrade. A new GeForce FX 5900 will only mariginally faster than your current graphics card in real world use. The 9700 Pro is still a blazing fast chip.

Performance in what? What is lacking? What do you do? For many, if not most, people, the difference between top of the line SCSI and top of the line IDE is not at all noticeable unless you are doing very disk intensive tasks.

Um, 9700 pro or 5900 Ultra? That's like, a $200 difference at least. If anything you should be comparing the 9800 Pro to the 5900 Ultra. And you should choose the 5900 Ultra.

Upgrade my Radeon 9700 Pro

UPGRADE ??? upgrade to what??? minimal speed ?? there's not a single game out there that can bring a 9700pro to it's knees.

I say as many others have said go for the HD upgrade, you're going to use you HD all the time, but a new video card you'll use some of the time... You figure it out...
