i keep hearing bits and pieces of a new scsi ,,????type around the corner ,,,,will this new type reqire a new card ,,,,,,is it a different pin configureation comming out,,,,,is the speeds going to be the only difference ,,,,,,any one out there semi informed...

There's always going to be something new around the corner.

Just buy what you want to when you want to and enjoy it.

If you wait you're always going to be waiting,unless you have something specific you are waiting for.

Ultra320 is just hitting the market now. It doubles theoretical bandwidth up to 320MB/s. It is LVD pin compatible. There really are no applications for it in the consumer market. Ultra160 already exceeds the standard PCI bus, Ultra 320 exceeds 64bit 33MHz and 32bit 66MHz PCI which havn't yet trickled down to consumer products, unless you consider SMP Athlon boards as mainstream. Much further down the road is SerialSCSI, which will bring the tiny cables of SATA to SCSI.
