New: Schweppes Dark Ginger Ale

I saw the first shipment of Schweppes Dark Ginger Ale while shopping yesterday.

I figured what the heck and bought a bottle. So far it is only available in 2L bottles.

It is quite dark almost like a dark beer. It tastes quite nice with a bit more bite to it but not as much as Vernors. It is also fairly sweet but not overpowering.

Overall it's a very nice drink and it should make for interesting mixes.

:awe:

Shouldn't you Canadians stick to the most overtly Canadian brand of ginger ale, Canada Dry? Seagrams is where it's at anyway.

I wish they sold this around here...

That's my favorite. The only place I could find it was a specific fish & chips vendor, at a specific Highland games. I used to love getting one with my fish. I looked into buying online, but bottles of liquid always cost too much for shipping.

That brand is okay, but nothing stands up to

I have tried pretty much every brand out there, most are either too weak or they just dump a bunch of ginger in there so it's like OJ with tons of pulp, C&B is a perfect balance right out of the bottle or as a mixer.

Eh, Seagrams has that nasty fake sugar in it...blind taste test I can always pick it out easily.

Personally I prefer a strong ginger flavor and making your own isn't hard.
You can add extra flavors too, like molasses or apple juice.

If you like alcohol it's tough to beat a good ginger hard cider.

reed's extra ginger brew used to be nose hair singe worthy, but they nerfed it. probably because they were using acacia bark instead of real ginger.

It does here because of US laws designed to make importing sucrose more expensive than fructose. Canadian versions of US sodas probably have normal sugar, like Mexican coke. I was speaking to their options. 😉

I like Schwepes, even for just drinking straight.

That does look like an interesting mixer, might have to ask the local Publix about that one as a lot of snowbirds here and they carry things like that.
