i need a new flat bed scanner
it needs to be of relatively high quality and fast
price isnt a big concern
im using it for business and if it had a decent slide attachment that would be an added bonus
im mostly going to scan 35mm pictures that may eventually be published and thus the images need to be of magazine publication quality

any suggestions

I have a Canon scanner (650U) that has been an awesome scanner. It connects to the USB port and gets its power through that cable - no separate adapter required. It's very small and compact. However, I don't think it would solve your need for a slide scanner. However, Canon does have some other larger models with slide scanners on them that you might consider.
