i can't believe this is evan a topic - set hdd as master, optical as slave and put them in whatever order you want on the cable. the only time it matters where they are is if you use cable select :shocked::Q

Are you saying that if I set the DVD as a slave and put it first in the chain, it'll still act as a slave?

Yes. Ignore any little "slave" or "master" stickers on the IDE cable -- those only matter if you set your drives to CS (cable select) instead of the usual Master/Slave settings.

I am in a market for a ide controller card too because seems like my old one is busted, what exactly is all there Raid setting every card talk about?
