Been using them all day now. here are the release notes indicating the fixes and improvements

ENHANCEMENTS:
* CHKDSK /f - Blue Screen issue resolved
* Occasional crackling noise issue resolved
* Limited User issues - when logged in as a limited user trying to save
Control Panel settings, now it says access denied
* DLS - Improved Performance
* CPU load greatly reduced on playing multiple 3D hardware streams
* DSP task management in general uses much less host overhead
* Fine-tuned for overall better performance and low CPU Utilization for
Games and other Applications
* Various other minor fixes

working perfectly here for me.

yeah, but is there a noticeable difference between the new drivers and the old ones? Is there any truly useful added functionality or noticeably improved sound quality with the new drivers? just playing devil's advocate.

the chkdsk blue screen error was annoying and is definately fixed that same error also showed up if you used partition magic. The sound quality does seem to have gotten a little better. I know i can now run the hardware acceleration settings and sampling rates at their highest settings without getting any sound looping. I couldn't do that before. cpu load in audio winbench 99 44.1khz 16 bit 32 voice streaming went from 12.4 with the old drivers to 7.03 with these drivers. All except 2 of the directsound 3d cpu loads decreased with this new driver. On the other hand the cpu loads increased slightly in all the non 3d directsound tests. in each line there are 2 numbers at the end those are the cpu loads for that test. The first number is the old xp driver and the second number is the new beta driver. The excel sheet didn't translate well to the post.

These were my own informal tests and not necessarily done in the best of conditions for a good isolated result but for what it's worth here they are.
