New S3 Savage4 Pro drivers?

Does anyone know where I can obtain new S3 Savage4 Pro drivers? I already have the v84.003 windows xp/2000 driver, do you think any recent games will even run with the Savage4? lol 🙂

I also could not find anything newer than that. I am running it in an old P3-500 at home and my kids are begging me to upgrade the PC. However they play some older games that work generally ok, but the newer games even on software mode are horribly blocky and do not run very well.

I used to love it's image quality on UT and Quake II (at that time on good ol' W98SE), even though it locked up occasionally.

I doubt any newer games will run on an ancient Savage4. I had one back in the day (I think I may still have it lying around somewhere), and it was good, until I got a GeForce2. I highly doubt there are any "new" drivers for it though, as that thing was "state of the art" back in the TNT2 era 😀 .

ya it was pretty comparable to the TNT2...just faded off later on, i remember playing NHL2000 smoothly on that card.

is it really comparable to tnt2 ? i also have one still running on an old comp, and the thing that's impressive about it (at that time) is free trilinear filtering, and s3tc support...

The v84.003 drivers appear to be the last drivers for the Savage4 so I will give my shiny (not quite) Savage4 a trial run on sunday! 🙂

I have now finished testing the S3 Savage4 GT, as expected it was unable to run any new games. Playing games like Quake2, UT and Unreal with the Savage4 brought back so many good memories when I owned my 32MB Diamond Stealth III S540 Savage4 Pro. Now it's onto the S3 Savage 2000, I wonder how that will perform (if it can run any) with the latest games! 🙂

my s2k runs warcraft III just fine, though my brother's system with the savage4 had some problems that may be due to only having 168MB of RAM. Are there any games worth playing that don't work well on a celeron 550 with 256MB of ram and a savage 2000? www.savagenews.com has old savage drivers
Edit:
For the savage2000, I think I downloaded the most recent drivers for xp from diamond legacy drivers; registration and email address was required. The savage4 my brother is still using win98, I think he's using the most recent certified drivers, 8.20.31.

With the savage4, every time he gave the units a command, they would all disappear from the screen for a moment. This may be due to low ram.
The savage2000 under win2k with 256mb ram can run wcIII with all the settings at lowest with no glitches.

Which drivers are you and your brother using? I will be trying out a Inno3D Savage 2000 shortly, I found v9,51.16 drivers for winxp which I presume are the latest?

My S3 collection has just expanded to include a Inno3D Savage 2000 and a Club3D Deltachrome S8, hopefully they will release something else for me to purchase! 🙂

Do you know what version number your savage 2000 drivers are?

I noticed that on the official S3 site they listed the "Savage 2000 (410) with Diamond ViperII" but when you click on the link all of the drivers have been removed. 🙁

Go to www.savagenews.com - or more specifically http://www.savagenews.com/?action=articles&dir=7
The latest driver for the Savage 2000 was released by S3 and existed on their site for a little while before they realised their error of actually providing some support. That was 3 years ago now.

The driver that actually comes with Windows XP is the most stable - that is so long as it actually is stable at all and runs without errors (some people have minor graphical glitches in 2D). The only downside is no OpenGL support however depending on the games you play that may be fine.
The best other driver you can get is the 9.21.01G version. Similar speed, OpenGL support, however can be less stable (although should be fine).
