OK, I will keep this short and sweet. You all know the rules, or better learn to read them. Here are cliff notes:

No baiting, flaming, trolling, thread crapping, cussing or insulting. So if you have an opinion you can state without insulting people, do so, stating it as an opinion. If you have FACTS on a thread, link to a reputable source and state your summation. Anything else not pertinent to a thread is probably infractionable. Also note, we have revised our infraction/vacation policy in CPU such that repeat offenders are now going to find themselves with less time to make trouble in the forums. Members will now receive a vacation automatically every time they commit a posting infraction starting with their 3rd infraction. (previously no vacation time was served until a member committed their 10th infraction) This includes use of the word fanboy.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!

Update 1/24/2014
You may have pictures of your benchmarks, so long as there are NO URL's on them. If its obvious that you have a lab with 20 computers, and you are benchmarking them, be careful not to link to your site, that's against the rules, and the thread will be locked and you will be banned for spamming.

edit 08/28/2018:
Do not just drop links without comment. People need to know what are in the links before deciding whether to click on it.
It is your job as a poster to comment on it.

Updated: 5/14/2024
Your post must contain your own original written content and cannot consist solely of another's content, be it a quote, image, or link. This has been updated with the "A picture is worth a 1000 words". amendment. If the content speaks for itself, the personal commentary is no longer required. For example: you made the meme and added the text. Or: the quote you provide has attribution and addresses a question or makes a salient point, that is now perfectly fine.

Don't abuse it by trying to slip in questionable content lacking attribution and personal commentary. Otherwise carry on.

There has continued to be confusion over CPU forum policy. In order to eliminate any ambiguity the rules are being updated again.

Vendor threads are considered safe spaces for owners and admirers of that vendors products. Anti vendor posts, and posts that are pro competitor of the vendor are not allowed. Because it amounts to flame bait.
If you think there are other policies that need more clarification, let a CPU forum mod know via PM and we will amend this sticky as needed.

UPDATED: 6/8/24

The first rule of fight club/CPU forum is attack the post not the poster. Zero tolerance on this one. That includes member callouts. It is all confrontational and qualifies as flame bait.
Do not remove moderator edits to your posts. They are there not only for you to read, but everyone. That way others know what the violation or issue was and can avoid making that mistake themselves. Editing them out will get you points on the ban bingo card.
