Hello,
I have the new xfinity box - the arris tg862. Ever since it was installed, I've been having a number of issues, the largest of which is that my xbox360 cannot connect reliably. I finally did my research and found out that this is a known issue. I'm a little taken back as it seems a bit ridiculous for a common device to have such a major issue.
Anyhow, I'm thinking of getting it bridged and adding another router to my house, but I'm not sure which one to get. I'm looking at the Asus RT-AC66U or possibly the D-LINK DIR-655.
My main PC is wired directly to router, so wireless is not a concern there but stability of the router definitely is. My 2nd, work pc, is wirelessly connected, although potentially could be wired. In addition to that, I have 3 phones, 3 kindles, 1 ipad, ps3, xbox360, another laptop and some other various devices that do actually use the wifi.
My concern is, first and foremost, stability. I want a router that performs above average and never overheats or crashes. I've had poorly stable routers in the past and that can be incredibly tiresome to lose your internet randomly. My other concerns in order of priority: compatibility, performance, range (house is only 1200sq ft) and finally feature-set.
Anyhow - I was set to buy the AC66U when I read it can run hot. Is anyone familiar with this device? Does it run too hot and/or crash? How about the DIR-655? Does it run hot?
