New RMA'd HD

Just got my WD 40GB Caviar 7200 RPM HD replacement... Plugged it in, and it is loud as all hell. It doesn't sound like a crash, but more like a whine from a high speed fan. Is this at all normal, or am I RMA'ing this one too?

Nope, no upgrade, same model, loud as all hell, and apparently I will be sending it back. WD has a page up on the various signs of error as far as noise, and this is one of them, as long as it's not cables (which it isn't, for one it's working right now with my old HD, which is on the brink of crashing 🙁, and also I tried it in two other computers and it did the same thing).

yep, i would send it back. You could run their diagnostic on it for fun, but drives with whines ususally pass. It shouldnt be any louder than your last one, that's for sure.
