New Rig, What to Play?

Hey all. I'm in the process of building my first gaming PC. I don't have any consoles and this is the first time I'll be able to play really graphically demanding games. Since my past PCs have just been family PCs, I've fallen behind in keeping up to date with the prettiest games out there. So I figure I'd make a list of all the games I should get and play through. I only know a few titles though, which is why I'm asking for suggestions. I'm about to have a nice rig, what do I NEED to play!?!? Any genre is fine with me.

The ones I can think of are:
Modern WareFare 2
Crysis 1, Warhead, 2 (when it comes out)
BF 1943 (when it comes out)
BF Bad Company 2
Warhammer 40k: (?)
Bioshock 1, maybe 2

The rig is:
Intel i7 930 CPU
8GB G.Skill memory
ATI Radeon 5870 GPU
I'll be running Windows 7

Mass Effect 1 and 2. Beat both games last week and they were phenomenal. Excellent story and so many ways to unravel the story its mind boggling. I only hope starcraft 2 can top it.

I've had a ton of fun with Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance. You can get them on sale from impulse for $5 to $10

Metro 2033. I'm not a big fan of the game myself, but from a visual/environmental standpoint it's great.

I highly recommend the Orange Box package. A ton of fun with Half Life 2 (and enough mods so that you can really crank out the high end graphics, for example I saw a mod that was 11 GB for the mod alone), plus you have Portal, and Team Fortress 2.

Wow thanks so much everyone! These titles will keep me busy for a long while. I'll probably make one master list then go about looking up reviews and ratings to help decide the order in which I'll be playing through and buying these games. To those who chose to add a bit of sarcasm to your response, kindly gfy. I suppose I should have noted that I do have some games already, regardless of the fact that I can't play some of them-- or at least I can't play them with an fps greater than 7 (TF2). I have HL1, 2, ep(s), and the OJ Box, DODS etc. I also have BF1942 and BF2.

Thanks again for everyones' input!

Portal. Short but oh-so-sweet.

This... totally. The STALKER series might have a tough learning curve, since in the beginning it's pretty tough to kill stuff, but stick with it, they are all very rewarding games... especially the first one.

+1 for this. Played ME2 recently though I should have played ME1 first :(
