I'm replacing my current PC. I'm not a gamer and use my PC mainly for Photoshop and other heavy post processing softwares. Also, I have no intention of overclocking my PC.

Based on everything I have read, here is my new config :

CPU : E6400

Motherboard : P5B or P5B Deluxe, depending on the price and availability
when I order the parts (in about 2 weeks)

Firewire card : IOGEAR 3 ports

Case : Antec Piano Sonata II, with heatsink Katana 775. Stupid question : do I need an heatsink AND a new fan (like the Scythe S-FLEX 120mm) ?

RAM : Corsair XMS2 2GB DDR2 675 PC2 5400, unbuffered, non-ECC

HD1 : Raptor 74GB

HD2 : WD Caviar SE16 320GB WD3200KS. The weird thing is that the reference on Directron.com is that the speed is 300Mb/s while it seems 3Gb/s on Newegg...

DVD Writer : NEC ND 3550A or BenQ DW1655

Video card : eVGA Geforce 7600GT 256MB PCI-E (ref : 256-P2-N554-AX) wth dual DVI-I

Did I forget anything ? Any issue with these components working together ?

Thanks again for your help.

great system. just one thing, although you say you don't plan on overclocking at all, read this article about the latest BIOS for the P5B. unlocked multiplier anyone? also, what monitor are you using?

The speed for the drive is 300MB/s which is equal to 3Gb/s.

what about PSU?

as for the fan question, from the pics i saw, the Katana 775 comes with a fan so no you don't need another one.

300MB/s != 3Gb/s

None of the C2Ds they tested were able to use a higher multiplier, so the feature isn't really useful.

I was told that the PSU coming with the Sonata II was good enough (450W) and that I did not need to replace it.

I'm using a Dell 1704FPV that is soon going to be my second monitor, replaced as #1 by probably the Dell 2007WFP (the widescreen version) or a good 19" "standard" monitor, using S-IPS (better for photography).

Thanks !
