hey thanks you guys have been awesome in helping my new rig get up and running... now theres just a few minor issues that i'd like to clear up:

- how to enable DMA in windowsXP?
ive put together a nice comp (athlonxp 2100+, nforce2, 512mb samsung pc2700, wd special edition 80gig hd) and yet it seems sluggish in windows quite frequently... i have a cheap 4mb PCI video card but i dont think it fully accounts for it does it? i like to think that all i need to do is enable DMA for my hd...

- anyone have a logitech mx700 mouse?
ive tried all sorts of receiver/mouse positions and after no longer than 5 mins of use it starts goin nuts and i have to press the connect buttons and then it works for another 5 mins... a major annoyance... anyone know what to do?

thx again for any help! :)

When you install the nForce2 drivers from nVidia's site, do not install the SW IDE driver.
- I found that, if you decompress the files in the nForce2 install file to a folder, you can use them to update the IDE drivers manually. More on that later.

To enable DMA:
Go to Device Manager.
Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
Right-click on the Primary IDE Channel.
Make sure DMA is set for both devices there; do the same for the Secondary IDE Channel.

If you decompressed the install file:
While you are here in Device Manager, right-click the IDE Controller there; probably something like PCI IDE Bus master IDE, or something like that, and click Update Driver.
Select Don't Search. I Will choose the driver to Install. Next.
Click Have Disk.
Browse to the folder that you decompressed the nForce2 files to, and go to the IDE\WinXP folder and click Open.
Now I'm seeing two choices here - nForce and nForce MCP2 IDE; I guess you'll want the MCP2, as you have the nForce2.
That should update your IDE drivers without screwing the system up. If you do it with the regular installation procedure, the Primary and Secondary IDE chains don't appear correctly in Device Manager - that's probably what causes problems.
