New Rig question about audio connectors...

Receptacles I'm refferring to are only accessible on the inside of the case and are used to hook in the audio analog or audio digital cables from a CD or DVD to the Audigy card...

What happens if I don't use them and just leave the CD and DVD alone? I'll still get sound through the data cable, right?

They are for back when you couldn't do DAE, and then during the time Win98 was popular. AFAIK, but I could be wrong, Win98 still can't do DAE.

You can also use them to "grab" an output of another device in your system like a TV card, modem, or even the PC speaker if you're into blasting Commander Keen through your speaker system in simulated surround when the mood strikes ten.

Cheers!

So... My case has an audio connector for the front panel and I need a place to use it. If I plug it into the MoBo, then I only could output a sound signal through my Onboard audi which I'm nit using anyway. Instead, I've got the Audigy 2 Zs abnd I'd like to have front panel capability through my Soundcard...

Is it possible to do this if I just plug the case audio connector to the Audigy (assuming it fits)???

It catches a digital readout. In the olden days before our time 😉 you could not get a digital output to record from cd. If you were to record a cd for example it first translate the sounds to analog then back into digital, this was obviously slow and left poorer quality. This fixes it, but if it is still an issue I don't know. I hooked mine up.

Thanks for responding, but I'm looking for a specific answer to the following question:

Bump... I'd really like to be able to get my sound jacks to work through the Audigy 2 Zs. Audigy instructions only show connection to a CD ROM Drive...

Is what I'm asking possible?
