New Rig New Problems

Okay so i built a new Rig 2 days ago. trying to install my OS but having all kinds of trouble. this is what i got so far:

1. OS starts to install. then freezes at 70%. restarted then
2. NTLDR missing. restarted then
3. OS starts to install but after format freezes at 9%
4. Now NTLDR missing.

I dont know what is the problem. here is my specs for the new rig. lots of help needed

OCZ Platinum 2GB, 1GBx2
EVGA 7900GT w/ fan card
PC Power and Cooling 510W Power Supply
Creative ZS2
NEC DVD/CD Drive

Sounds like a currupted copy of an OS...

I would tend to agree VicodiN or possibly your optical drive is possibly flakey. Grab another CD drive and try the install again.

Bad cable can also cause the same behavior.

i was thinking the same thing about the bad cd but the thing is, is that i had already installed the OS on my other rig and it worked just fine.

I had a similar issue. It ended up being a faulty stick of memory, though it passed memtest86 fine. Try yanking one of your sticks of RAM, see if the problem continues to occur. If it does, swap sticks of RAM around, and try again. Also, you can try testing w/ memtest86.
