I set up a new rig yesterday. Everything installed and up and running for 1 day. I installed the 4-in-1 drivers tonite. Everything was running smoothly. I hit a webpage and everything froze up. I tried CTRL-ALT-DEL and got an error. It was something about the C: drive. I rebooted and noticed that my 2 new hard drives did not boot. I then got an error msg to this affect: "Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM : Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM : Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter" I put in my Win 98SE boot disk to get a prompt. Only my 2 Rom drives are accessable as I expected. I tried the mobo CD, but don't really know what the problem is here or what to do. Is there a way to restore an old reg file or something? Any1 seen this b4? What can I do to restore my hard drives w/o starting over if possible?

O/S: WIN 98SE
MOBO: KG7-RAID

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :D

Need more info. How many HD's? To which IDE ports are they connected? What is your boot order in the bios?

I've had problems with 4in1's before. But they were usually on bootup (although they were basically the same problem) right after I installed the new 4 in 1's. Sorry I can't be more help

I have 2 HDs chained and connected to IDE 1 on the board. Boot order: Floppy -> HDD-0 -> LS120 I see no HDs in the BIOS in Standard CMOS.

Check the connections on the HD's and the IDE cable connection to the motherboard, unplug and plugin the connectors if you have to. Try and do an IDE detection and see if the HD's appear. If they don't then try one drive at a time. Try a different cable. If the bios still doesn't see the HD's you may have a dead channel.

Ok, I unplugged the Slave drive and now it works. What could be wrong there? Would the 4-in1 drivers have anything to do with that? BIOS setting i have not seen? Should I try to plug the Slave back in now? I don't remember what site it was. It tried to dl the Chinese translation support and I hit ESC and then it froze up and quit working! :D

If you're seeing this in the bios, the 4-in-1's wouldn't be the cause of your problem. If you unplug the master and plug the slave in, can you see the slave in the bios? Double check your jumpers on your HD's, make sure the master is master and the slave is slave. Or if you are using an ATA66/100 cable you should be able to set the jumpers on both to cable select.
