New rig for photo/video editing

hey guys
i'm looking to build a new rig for video/photo editing.

i need a CPU, MB, RAM, power supply, and possibly a new video card (i have an evga 8800gts right now).

i'd want to spend under 1K on everything...

any suggestions for me?

I think the videocard you have is fine for video/photo edit. no need to spend any money for new one.

I recommand an i7 system with more ram.
and Maybe an SSD hdd with a 2T Samsung F3.

and definatly a good monitor. The new Dells seem to be good value with good colors.
 
you just need a crap ton of ram, a large hdd for raw pics and vids, an ssd for the apps (and to work from if you feel like it), and a fast vid card with a nice large frame buffer (if u want PS gpu accelerated help). cpu wise, if you plan on re encoding video with lots of filters, i'd def recommend you go intel currently.
