Ok- after some research and cost analysis, I've finally come up with the final specs. Here goes:

Case: Raidmax Smilodon ATX-612WB Black SECC STEEL ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Processor
MB: ASUS P5N-E SLI Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
Video Card: XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB PCIe Video Card
RAM: 2GB DDR2 667 (Crucial or Crosair)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB

Am I missing anything? Any compatibility issues? Suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

get 2 gig of patriot DDR-800 (one with micron chipset. $240 after $40 MIR)
what PSU you getting?
get enhance 500 watt psu from ewiz for $70
I'm not too sure about your case.
I prefer eVGA 8800 GTS.

I'm planning on saving by using the built in sound on the MB (someone suggested that). Pardon the ignorance-- but what is POS?

I'm intending on using this machine mainly for some light everyday use + some gaming like WoW & Guild Wars. Would the on board 500W power supply suffice with the specs for this purpose?

You can save some money by getting an E6400 instead. The extra cache on the E6600 doesn't make a big difference, and you can easily overclock the E6400 to speeds that well surpass the X6800. I'm doing the same with my new build.

I'd also HIGHLY recommend getting a separate power supply. OCZ, Enermax, or if you want something future-proof, the PC Power and Cooling 750W on newegg. You may only use the box for light gaming and such now, but if you ever wanna hardcore game in the future, or go 8800GTS SLI, you'll want a better PSU. Just get a barebones case. I like Lian-Li myself.
