So I bought a new 939 4400 CPU to upgrade my aging system and the new fan with the kit is a four pin connector whereas my old fan only had three pins...I checked the wiring and it seems to be that it is the same with the exception of the new wire so I plugged it into the board and it spins up....is this OK or is there something I should do or am missing because of that fourth wire that is critical? Thanks

As far as I know, the 4th pin only allows the fan to be turned completely off by the mobo. If you don't have it plugged in (you don't) then the fan can still slow down, but can't turn completely off.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong ;)

EDIT: This basically means you're 100% fine without the 4th wire connected.

the 4th pin is for PWMM pulse witdth modulation or something.

it is a different way of controlling how fast the fan spins. you dont need it, though if your computer doesnt do fan speed by the fan voltage it will just spin at full speed it hink.
