It depends on your Internet connection. I have cable at home and DSL at work so I have mine set to buffer enough blocks for at least 24 hours and then set the client to fetch and flush every hour that way I have at least 24 hours of work if my net connection goes down. If your on dailup I would buffer enough for at least 24 hours of work , (about 450 block in your case) and flush once a day.

Hey slapstick , how did you do that?
I know how to set the hours, but how do you tell it to flush and fetch every hour?

Go to configure the client , under option 2) Buffer and Buffer update option select 10) "Additional buffer-level checking" and pick #3. Then go to 11) "Buffer-level check interval" and set the time.

Opps? the above is how have my clients at work set to flush to the remote buffers on the file server. You don?t need to set the "Additional buffer-level checking" if all you want to do is set the time interval. To set just the time go to "Buffer-level check interval". Remember to buffer enough blocks to keep it working. You can also set it up like I originally posted that way you will always have your in-buffer full incase you lose your net connection.

Riv beat me to the punch, definately check out the website and sign up for the newsletter. I don't view a 980Mhz as measly, though it can be a little humbling 😱 to check out the crack racks and stuff of the heavy hitters.

I noticed your output is kind of low for that much Mhz, is the machine turned off most of the time, or do you perhaps have some fancy screensaver turned on? 980 Mhz should be doing 600-800 per day.

I did sign-up at the TeAm site. I thought my screensaver turned off after a half hour..guess not. Thanks for the tip JimMc.

Welcome The Reaper!

Only 3D screen savers cause problems from what I understand (is that right all you RC5 gurus?). If you find you are still low on output there are some programs you can download to check what processes are sucking up your cracking power. The one I like the best is TaskInfo2000🙂

You picked a great team! We are #1 in the world and trying like heck to keep it that way!😉

On my desk machine at work (the only place I use a screensaver) I use the blank screensaver (blank.scr) for windows...not sure if it still comes with win98, but its on win95 I'm pretty sure. It doesn't suck enough cycles to worry about.

I like taskinfo2K as well; it only uses 0.08% of cpu when running, as opposed to ATM, which uses about 68.0% when running.

TO THE REAPER: Welcome to TA! Every crunch helps! Nice overclock, too...one of my crunchers is a BX6-r2 (also have an original BX6 crunching) and they are great boards still, even after a few years.

The Reaper: Welcome to the TeAm! 😎 Good to have you with us, and I don't think a 980MHz cpu is measely at all!

The guys talking about screensavers are right, 3d screensavers are a keyrate killer! I've also noticed drops in keyrate with other screensavers (like Mystify) so I don't use screensavers at all... They're really superfluous anyway, since it was something invented for older monitors that had a tendency to get pixels burned ... with todays monitor if you're worried about that I'd just let windows turn the monitor off after a period of inactivity...

Anyway if you've got any questions be sure to ask, my guess is that we'll scramble over eachother to answer anything you want! 😉

Welcome to the Team! 🙂

As for other things to watch out for, the "energy saver" features of some motherboards and windows will cause a loss in keyrate if enabled. I personally just turn my monitor off when I am not using my computer.. 100% energy effecient that way. 😛

SD: Why aren't you with us anymore?

/me misses ya in IRC! 😉
