New RAM, so do I need to change any bios settings?

Question: Do any bios settings for voltage supplied to the memory need changing because of the different voltage markings on new RAM?

In laptop, threw away the 4gb of original RAM (test was showing errors) and installed 8gb of new Kingston RAM.

The original RAM sticks were marked 1.35volts, and the new sticks are marked 1.5 volts. Do the new sticks require more voltage, or does that higher voltage marking on them just indicate a maximum in case someone decided to overclock?

Laptop = Sager NP8690 (Clevo W860CU), i7 CPU Q 740 @ 1.73GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870

The new sticks require the higher voltage. You will probably have to set that in the BIOS if it doesn't autodetect.

Also, may as well make sure the timings are what you expect them to be.

If you got the correct SO-DIMM there is no need to adjust voltage especially in a laptop. As you mentioned chances are the 1.5v could be an advertised max voltage for OC purposes.

ensign_lee says "yes" and razel says "no."
Thanks to each of you for responding, but your opposite answers leave me guessing.

Does anybody know the right answer?

Just get into the bios and set it to auto. Or manual 1.5.
Save and exit.
