Im new to raid.
I just purchased a Raid card with Sil 680 chipset, I have an Fic AU13 MB, AMD 2700+ and 512mb ram. I have 2 - 160gb hard drives a cd burner and a dvd burner. The computer is set up and bith drives work, they are both new. Although one is a 7200rpm and one is a 5400 rpm, both are ATA 133 and 160gb. I partitioned both with 3 partitions the same size.
The problem is when I install the raid card and boot the computer it shows both drives when the raid screen comes up, one as maste and one as slave. The raid is not set up and no drivers are installed but I still get that raid screen which asks me to select F4 to set up raid.
Then it starts to load windows and then reboots. If I try safe mode it gets to mup and reboots. I tried all PCI slots no help. The raid card shows up on IRQ11 which is the same irq as the uSB port and something else. I cant change the IRQ with jumpers.
I tried booting with the XP cd and it loads, but when I try to set up windows it says I have no drives. I tried disabling the Primary IDE port in the bios but it does the same thing.
I also tried hitting F4 and selecting a mirror raid for set 1, that doesnt work either.
I dont know what else to try.
