NEW Raedon 9600- Now Everything is VERY Small

About a month ago I got a Sony SDM-X73 LCD monitor. I had an old GeForce 4 video card that only allowed for analog so I got an ATI Saphire RAedon 9600 so that I could utilize the digital capabilities of the monitor. Everyone said how much better things were when seen digitally.

After installing the new card & optimizing the monitor (setting it at the resolution recommened, 1280 x 1024, I think??) using the Sony optimizing utility as well as "Dislplay" in the Control Panel, everything is quite clear, alright, but also QUITE SMALL. And I do mean small, like you highlighted a document & changed the size 10 or 12 print to an 8. Icons are small, too, & everything on the Start Menu. When I surf everything is small & changing the viewing size on every page I view from the View menu at top is quite cumbersome.

I changed the display size to 120 from the normal 96 in the Display part of the Control Panel but it didn't help anything but the Task Bar slightly. But JUST on the Task Bar. Start Menu, tool bars & everything else, both when surfing & not, is still very small.

I don't believe things were so small with the old GeForce but neither were they very clear. I really like this monitor but would very much like to see things normal size again.

When I went to the Sony website there was an article about flashing the BIOS. Would this help? My sweetheart tried to do this when I got the motherboard a few months ago but had problems & couldn't do it. But that's another thread.

I am a layman (or laywoman, as the case may be) so any help would be most sincerely appreciated. Thank you!!

Well, 1280x1024 is a resolution where everything is smaller. Going from 1024x728 is quite a switch, if you ask me, and it takes a little bit to get used to it.

You may just wanna up your rez back to 1024x728 if things are really too small for you. I think there might be some settings somewhere in the control panel that allow for big words or big icons or something. I'm not familiar as to where they'd be found, however.

you can resize everything in the display part of control panel and i say the smaller the better! its under appearances if you use xp then you'll have go to the "classic" look i think? anyways it isnt a problem you cant work around

XP doesn't automatically calculate the font sizes against the physical size of the display (although that's detectable in a Plug&Play display). You need to teach it the dots-per-inch value in Display Properties. 17" LCD screens use a 0.264 mm dot pitch, which equals 96 dpi.
