Anyone also kind of dissappointed? Or maybe it was because I was only half listening, but I just got it tonight and had about 3-4 songs really catch my ear, I'll give it another listen, but what did you guys think?
Its alot better than KID A. I hated that CD, only like 2 good songs.
I love everything else they've ever done. I think its time for them to put down the synthesizser and pick up their instruments again. I want "the bends II" so freaking bad.
Usually I would just buy a Radiohead album as soon as it hits
the stores, but after Kid A, I figure I'll download all the
songs first to see if I like the album. Kid A wasn't bad, but
it joined and then vanished from my CD rotation quite quickly.
I love Amnesiac. I bought the Special Edition, and it's pretty cool and interesting. A few weeks ago I pulled out Kid A and began listening to it again. It has really grown on me. They are both excellent albums, but I do find the Bends and OKC to be their best albums to date. I read an interview with Colin Greenwood stating they were planning on recording another rock album next. We'll see what happens, but all-in-all I'm very happy with what they have released over the past year.
Radiohead are simply amazing! Amnesiac is an excellent release.
I applaud Thom and the rest of the crew for being bold enough
to expand their sound and continue to experiment. It's easy for
bands to stagnate and keep putting out the same old sound.
Radiohead deserve their success.
I got Amnesiac today. I think it's better than Kid A, although both are similar (they could've been a double album). Life in a Glass House is amazing, I had to listen to it twice. Another solid album, although not as mind-blowing as OK Computer (that's an unfair comparison though).
<< I agree, Kid A and Amnesiac should have been a double album. They are very similar, except that Kid A is much more heavy than Amnesiac. >>
they coulda both almost fit on a single 80min CD, minus a song or two
as for those, like me, yearning for the guitar work from OKC or older stuff, quit dreaming, Yorke has said he's abandoning the old formula of pop tunes...
Ed O'Brien (rhythm guitarist) mentioned in a recent interview that they've gotten their guitars out for the new music they're working on. I streamed a concert they did a couple months ago, they still know how to jam out with the guitar/bass/drums formula.
Amnesiac and Kid A were recorded at the same time. IMO, if they had just taken the best tracks off of both albums they could of had an album to rival OK Computer.
<< I was thinking the same thing about The Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie album. They should've consolidated it into one disc. >>
No way, Mellon Collie was a masterpiece. In fact there are a bunch of B-sides that probably deserved to be on there too (Tribute to Johnny and The Last Song), but it would've been insanely long if they were. Although I think The Last Song was recorded later.
Anyway, Amnesiac is ok, not as good as OK Computer, but neither was Kid A. Its better than most stuff out there, just not anything spectacular.
