Just got Radeon7500 working with XFree 4.2.0. Performance seems to be pretty good, too bad that I don't have Quake3 installed into my work machine, trying that out tomorrow (maybe some other benchmarking, too, if anyone is interested). Radeon 8500 has no 3D accelation yet but 2D suppose to work. At least now can people with new Radeons try out linux 😀

Edited: sorry, I meant XFree 4.2.0, not 4.0.2 obviously...

One thing I could try out right away: glxgears. 1765FPS with default window size, window on top, ~3100FPS when gears applet is hidden behind another window (doesn't draw picture on screen). P4/1.5Ghz with 256Mb SDRAM, AGP set to 4x.

I loaded XFree86 4.2.0 on my comp a few weeks ago, problem is tux racer is a slideshow =P

I shouldn't complain though, I'm more than ecstatic that I can at least get my KDE desk back! Hellllloooo XEmacs 🙂 🙂

One question. I've been playing around with some Linux DVD players lately, namely Xine and Ogle. I can't find all the correct plugins for Xine that I need, but with Ogle I can play any DVD but for some reason I hear only audio and the video is just a black window. Does anyone know if this is due to XFree86 or a problem with Ogle itself?
