New R520 Benchmarks

Let's think about this. If the numbers were grossly off, wouldn't ATi be throwing a real stink and sending the PR machines in to overdrive to dispute them? Press Releases, etc. to alert everyone? While I do believe the final shipping R520 will perform somewhat better than the figures we've seen, I don't see the difference being night-and-day.

I'm not sure if this was posted but here it goes:

So Sander really did scam us?

Uhh. Those numbers dont look the same. The dutch site has the 1800 beating the 7800 in every game except for doom 3 and spintercell.

lol Both sites seem messed in their own way.

OT: Me and Sander are talking via e-mail, I'll post this when were done, pretty funny.

Sander Sassen is a fool as well as an ass. The guy has made himself a pariah because his little ego was hurt by ATI. The benchmarks he posted are irrelevant; the real story here is about a guy with an inflated ego trying to prove how important he is. What he has demonstrated is that he can?t be trusted, that he will always put his own personal bias ahead of facts, and that he?s far to immature to be considered a journalist. The performance of the video card in question will be settled in a few days, and it doesn?t matter weather his numbers are right or wrong. What matters is he has proven that he will go to any length to hurt someone who crosses him.
What I?ll remember about this story is not weather or not ATI has a fast video card, but that Sander Sassen can?t be trusted, and any site he?s involved with is suspect.

It would be cool to see the R520 on release day trounce these benchmarks..

I think they will be better, but not a HUGE increase..

I really, really hope so. That would sure be an exciting twist. Which now gets me thinking... maybe somebody WANTED me to feel disappointment followed by huge excitement. It makes for a more involving story when the hero is seemingly defeated and then rises to vanquish the villain. But I'm not one to put much stock in conspiracy theories.

That is rediculous, ATI knows damn well that they will have creditable benchmarks all over the place before the cards are on the shelves and that is what counts.

Who were you replying to? If it was me, it's no more ridiculous than all the other BS being posted.

Yeah when they release their PE or press edition??? I wonder if I will get a 1 year warranty with that card when I get it in like 3 to 4 months...LOL....just having some fun....

I believe too many ATI fanboy take this as a personal kick to their e-penis....The numbers are likely correct as any other site doing them, and as the article states ATI will get some performance out of more maure drivers...though with it being sooo fvcking lkate you think they would be mature enough now at launch....

This whole R520 thing and trust me I follow this as merely a veiwer and lover of technology (no ATI vs Nviida stuff for me) shows me ATI is truly second tier compared to Nvidia...That is my opnion at least....

If they have tested the R520 video card then why haven't they done benchmarking in Ut2004 or 3D 2005 benchmark? The website had the same games tested as HA which makes me wonder if they are FAKE. Anyways we will know the truth sooner or later when more creditable and reliable website start to post their review on the R520 chips. Well I am still wondering why ATI hasn?t given an official sample to website like anandtech so it can get a review done. If ATI believe/know that X1800xt is way faster than 7800GTX then wouldn't have problems with an early review. if ATI card is about 3% faster than I don?t see people spending $600 on X1800XT unless it was about 25% faster.

I don't know what thoes marketing people are doing or the engineering manager but its all looking bad.

  • ATI is delayed its R520 by one whole quater beacuse of production problems
  • they reduced the pipeline (what the hell happened to 32 or 24pipeline
  • was the 90nm transition that worth it ? because it seems to caused more problem!! as it did to Intel
