I can't seem to find a head to head shootout comparison of the GeForce FX 5600 256mb and the Radeon 9800 pro using the newest detonator drivers. I've heard that with the newer detonator drivers it nearly doubles the performance of the GeForce. Anyone? Just wondering between the two cards(both basically the same price) which is the winner hands down?

I doubt the new Forceware drivers 'doubles' the performance lol. And still at any rate..the 9800pro will own the 5600.

Where is a 5600 the same price as a 9800 Pro?(!) Maybe you mean 9600 Pro, in which case the 9600P still beats the 5600 by half a country mile.

256MB is wasted on cards less than $150, IMO.

Buy the Nvidia product.
ATI products have horrible compatibility probs. I doubt most of the
nerds posting here ever tried to install an ATI product. If they did , they
would buy an Nvidia.
Go to google com:
enter "radeon 9500 pro infinite loop"
read the reviews on hardwareanalysis.com

I have installed lots of them. You're dumb as nobody here!! You make 3 threads on the same topic and continue with the same crap in this one!! Go away, there's no need of people saying "don't buy this or that brand because I'm unable of making it work".

I just switched from NVIDIA to ATI (4600 to 9800Pro). Didn't have a problem with the switch, love my new card. Clearly not everyone has problems.

I see... 2 links mentioning the problem you're indirectly referring to. I've never heard of it, and at least one person there fixed it by simply uninstalling and reinstalling their drivers.

HORRIBLEY.. lol

(there both nice cards, but go with the 9800 pro. Few people are having problems and either way if you do have problems just bring it to AT, we will help you out.)

Do a search at Tomshardware (just type in 9800 pro) and see the #s. Then let those speak for themselves.
