New question on Old 8500DV!!

i noticed on my aiw8500dv that there is a power plug(similar to a floppy drive) i was wondering if it needed extra power to work? and if i did plug it in would i get extra performace. I know that some of the fx cards need the extra power to run at full clock speed. Is that what this is for??

Its a male plug, if that helps any! just right for the ps plug.
 
That plug supplies power for the firewire port,
if you don't have anything plugged into the firewire
port that needs the extra juice then you don't need it
 
thanks alot. been looking for that anwser for a while now. I was wondering why that firewire port didnt work. You would think ATI would document that in there guides that come with the card!!! Thanks again!
