New Queiet and Cool Processor and Motherboard

hey,

I just picked up a microfly case and i am planning on building hopefully the quietest and coolest (temperature wise) computer possible, so again i come to my friends at the silentpc review with a few questions.

CPU Stipulations:

I was going to go with AMD Athlon X2 processor because they are fairly cheap right now. I would like at least a recommendation as it comes to this processor, but if someone has one that is cooler and quieter by AMD or even Intel or whatever i am open to suggestion, I am just trying to keep it around 100 for the processor.

Motherboard Stipulations:

It is going to have to be a microATX form factor to fit into my case. It must obviously fit the processor that you are also recommending. I am also looking to have Gigabite Ethernet, so well put that one must list. I am going to need built in audio, ethernet, I have VIA so dun put it on my board please, i have had nothing but problems with them every time i have had it, at least 2 ram slots, it will need to have IDE at least for the CD-Drive I have.

I will be buying my RAM and other utilities based on what motherboard and processor I have. The only parts to the comp i have already, is a DVD-RAM drive that i need to use, the Power supply, which is a nice Seasonic, i can get the specs if people want them. and the microfly case.

thanks for everyones help.

If people have a suggestion on Hard Drive and Video Card i would love to hear them, or any other advice on how to keep a microfly case quiet and cool please let me know, those posts are coming shortly anyways.

PS If you know of a heat sink that i can use on the processor you suggest please let me know, i am all ears.

Also what are the best fans to get for quiet and cool, i used to use a lot of panaflos, are those still the best? thanks

You can get by with the stock heatsink in retail boxed cpus. I use a zalman "fan mate 2" rpm adjuster to lower fan speeds on the processor to around 1500-2000. Intel fans will automatically increase as required, but the rpm adjuster reduces the top end speed by at least one third or more to keep your system quiet. For video cards, use a fanless one. Some are pretty good and the heatsinks are monsters by yesterday's standards. Get a copper one if possible.

For a stock HTPC, AMD is the cheaper way to go. Look at their power-saving offerings BE-2XX0s & 4XX0s:

For a mobo, look at MATX 690G & non-budget 780G chipsets.

Wondering if you could explain what you said about the chipsets, what the difference is? do you think it worth me buying a seperate video card to keep heat and sound down? cause a seperate none fan video card would put significantly less stress on the motherboard?

The 780g chipset may have decent onboard video; I tried the onboard video on my new compaq and had to add a cheap pci-e card just to do normal stuff (non gamer), but mine is an Intel chipset.
