Initial reports have stated that it's faster than the already fast 1.27h patch. I'm downloading it right now.

This patch frigging owns me big time. Just to think i was just geting ready to get rid of my V5 while playing q3 , but this patch gave me a 15 frame increase without even touching the display properties. I can now keep my v5 without having to worry about a new card.

It works well on the Radeon Brotherman!

I haven't done a timedemo yet, but last night I was playin around on a server I set up and I could feel the improvement.

If you can't find a server running it yet, PM me and I'll let you know an IP so you can test it out. :)

I can't really notice what's new in those mentioned maps. I only notice the new gun effect. Can someone explain this?

The "pro" maps aren't really that much different. Item placement and weapon power-ups are rearranged or removed to make 1v1 battles more competitive.

And just to make sure, have you turned all the new gun effects on with the "cg_old(Rail, Plasma, etc.) 0" command. I've seen quite a few people already say that they don't notice the weapon effects. You just have to enable them.

was dl'g it fine at 4/5 k sec then someones sapping up the bandwidh and i'm down to 1.2 k sec..........this is soooo bad it's killing me. 88% there..only another hour to go. :(

Actually, there are a few changes in layout. Vertical Vengence has a teleporter in the center room where the slime is and Proving Grounds has some drastic layout changes. The RL room has side halls that loop around to the original stairs and the bounce pads are no longed in the corners of the room. There's a RG on a platfrom UNDER the catwalk on the other side of the teleporter accesible from by new stairs and there are now columns screening the LG.

Unfortunately, online play has been freezing my Win2K rig. Don't know exactly what's happening, but it's annoying.

I finaly got the patch downloaded, 56k@42K sucks
I notice only a slight increase in frame rates on the average or light load maps, but on high load maps like the pcgamer padshop map I got huge frame rate increases, this at 1280x1024x32 bit max.

No. Pro maps are available if a server has them or if you select them thru Skirmish mode.

How are u all bench testing to note an increase in FPS. All the Demo001,002 and 127 have gone and were left with a new demo??

The Pro maps do have subtle changes. I prefer the lightning gun now ;)

yeah...i've tried to bench q3 with the new patch, but can't run the demos and have found no documentation for the changes...

help, please?

In the console type: \demo four
or you can go to the demo menu, it's fixed now (atleast for any new demos recorded).

Wow..this patch is great! an easy 10-15 FPS improvement on my Voodoo3 3000

They're different demos. Comparing your new scores to the old scores is totally invalid.

I've noticed that the bot AI has improved and the physics have changed.

The new netcode is great!

My ping is sooo much lower :D and FPS soo much higher! life = good or at least Q3 is

I don't use time demo's I just load a map with the same amount of bots and play in single player. I watch the in game frame meter and pay close attention to the smoothness and feel of the game, esp at high load/min. frame rate conditions
