I have a Q6600 on an Asus P5Q Pro mobo. According to CPU-Z, it was at 1.6ghz. I wondered why it wasn't at the stock 2.4ghz, so I read the sticky and disabled speedstep, which should have left the multiplier at 9 instead of bumping it down to 6 when the CPU isn't under load. Well, that didn't work. My CPU is still at 1.6ghz. Any ideas?

Can you post a screenshot of CPU-Z? We don't have enough details about your system, and that would go a long way.

Does CPUz change when you put the system under load?

edit:
There appears to be a thread about your exact motherboard in progress here.

IF you go into the BIOS (don't have it right in front of me now to tell you exactly), you have to manually change the multiplier to 9.

Yes, set the multiplier manually to 9. Check CPU temp too, if it's extremely hot, it may have throttled down.
