NEW 'Puter build...do I lose my W10 Upgrade?

I am about to build/upgrade my 'puter and that includes, of course, a new MOBO, I had read a while back
that that would trigger you having to "get approval" from MS......I am using the FREE W10 upgrade fm W7...
and now a fella tells me that if you replace a Mobo you have to have a Retail V. of W10......that I am going to have to purchase W10 and do a New/Clean Install...........What an added Nightmare.....PLEASE tell me it isn't so?

Technically by licensing, if your Windows 7 was retail/upgrade, then your Windows 10 license will also be so. If your W7 license was OEM, then so will your W10 licence. The latter would result in not qualifying to use your W10 license on your new build.

Not really able to follow this post but I know if you have Windows 10 OEM and you need use use it on a different pc microsoft will let you if you tell thee reason to move the OS to another motherboard from motherboard failure you can do that way.

That's why I say "technically", in the end it's up to Microsoft of course.

Well if you told decided to tell MS that you using your used OEM Windows on a new PC instead of motherboard they would most likely deny you I never tried that method and most times dont even need to call MS to use the OS at least in my experience.
IMHO they only care about people using the same license on multiple computers not when the license is just being moved to another PC so dont try to do use it that way.
