Before kids my wife wanted a dog, so we got one 15 years ago... Almost instantly he became my dog, so she never felt 'loved' by him. I'm trying not to hijack this one, but dogs know who the alpha is.

Did your wife tell you to say that?

I’m speaking from experience. I remember being a scrawny 15 year old who thought he wanted a wolfdog or a husky. Then I put on some muscle, gained some confidence, got a job and a house, and generally grew up and all of a sudden the type of dog I walked had nothing to do with my masculinity. It will happen for you too one of these days, little buddy!

I'll bet you drive a monster 4x4 with plastic nads on the trailer hitch.

First he'll have to locate the big two-incher in all that hair! ;)

This might help! :p

Cute pup OP. Definitely makes me miss having a puppy(until they chew through your furniture). Not much is as satisfying as having a sleepy pup snuggling up on you.

There are very few little dogs that I like. Nothing to do with masculinity though, I just hate yappy dogs that wont shut up.

Problem is that most people seem to forget ... little dogs are still dogs and require proper training just like big ones.

Most "yappy" little dogs that are super-hyper and never shut up are that way because their owners are doing it wrong.

And while it's true a Chihuahua can't protect you by ripping an intruders throat out, tiny dogs can and will raise the alarm waking you up which is just as important.

No worries here, Alky. Having muscle, a house, job, and confidence does not make you a man...women have that too. Hell, my dog has that. Don't worry, you'll have more experiences as you continue to develop and grow including why little, yappy rats are not real dogs.

Yeah, you’ve made it very clear that your dog has the balls in your house. At least your wife has ... something to admire besides her shriveled facade of a husband.

That is one cute puppy! I would just be like 'where do the batteries go' if I had a little puppy like that. Little bundles of joy.

I got a bigger dog because I wanted to rescue a pit mix, since so many of them are misunderstood and need it, and wanted a dog that could handle decently long hikes over varied terrain. This fucker will hike 10 miles over rocky and hilly terrain and want more. That's one of his happy places. Worked out.

I do hate super yappy small dogs though, except in like super small doses, like meeting them on the street for a few minutes. If they are small but not super yappy, all good. Seeing a girl now with a 20lb mostly Pomeranian and it is so damn yappy sometimes it drives me nuts. Anytime any animal appears on the tv screen it goes nuts. Doesn't matter what kind of animal or even if it's on the screen for a split second. I'm thinking how does this little fucker know to get pissed off at a giraffe? Special fucking dog. Yaps at my dogs face at times. Takes his bully sticks off the ground. She is amazed my 65lb pit hasn't snapped at her dog. But I know how chill he is.

Ha, mine will too. We took him snowshoeing in the mountains the other weekend. Six miles of hills and sinking into snow and he didn’t want to go inside at the end. Lot of ice balls stuck to the fur in his feet and he just spent 10 minutes licking them off without complaint. Pretty much every dog is tougher than it looks and will out-hike most humans.

This dog doesn't bark much yet. Poms are bad for barking...had a neighbor with 2 of them. Any time she let them out in the yard, they barked...one was named "Kiki" and she sounded like principal Skinner's mother yelling at them to stop. I suppose the woman was yappy too.
