I think these threads are mandatory now every time someone gets a new puppy. Pretty sure it is in the forum guidelines...somewhere.

Anyways, the kids got an early Christmas present with a long-haired blue chihuahua. The breeder couldn't hold him until Christmas Eve like we'd hope and we're going out of town next week. So, he needs to go ahead and get used to us before we pack him in a car for a couple of hours.

As for why a chihuahua...both of my kids have light allergies to dogs. The chihuahua and the King Charles Cavalier Spaniel are the only two breeds that we've confirmed that they don't have a reaction to. And since King Charles Cavalier Spaniels are pretty expensive...

Anyways, say hello to "Shadow" (I didn't pick the name)

We've got the papers and kennel registration of the parents. Long-haired "blue" chihuahua.

Very unusual. Ears don't stand up, forehead ridge not very pronounced, eyes more recessed and, muzzle more solid than your usual chihuahua. Also, he's quite large for a chihuahua pup. Very cute!

Yeah, my friend that lives near us has one. I took the kids over to his place with me to watch the first day of college football and was shocked when they didn't have a reaction to her. We dogsat her a couple of weekends and they still didn't have a reaction. They're a real friendly and sweet breed but more than I want to spend.

My son previously had a bad allergic reaction to my brother's cocker spaniel.

Yeah, not all of them have the bug eyes. It especially seems true of the long-haired ones which is why I specifically looked for one. Here's another puppy long-hair that looks similar.

long-haired chihuahas are waaay cuter and nicer than the standard chihuahuas. From my experience, they tend to be more friendly and quiet too.
