I am looking to upgrade my psu, it will be powering the following:
MSI P67 GD55
Core i5 2500k @ 4.8ghz(may get liquid and go past 5 later)
Crossfire Radeon HD6950 1gb overclocked
3 HDD
1 SSD
1 DVD burner
5 high airflow fans+cpu hsf.
I was looking at the following, any comments would be welcome. My budget is under $200.

That PC Power & Cooling is a good choice although 950W is overkill but having more power headroom is most of the time a good thing. With 950W you could easily support dual Crossfire HD6950/HD6970 along with an OCed Core i5 2500K. If you don't mind having 250W less and have a 80+ Gold I suggest going for the FSP Aurum Gold 700W. The FSP Aurum Gold 700W is currently out of stock though. Other than that the one that you mentioned is a good choice as well. :D

Well, think about it this way:
2x 6950 @ stock: 400W (500W w/ 6970 BIOS)
Rough estimate for the 2500k: ~225-275W (We are talking about an insane OC here)
3x HDDs: ~40W
SSD: Negligible
DVD Burner: ~15W
5x High air flow fans: 50-75W (Complete shot in the dark here)

I'd say that a PCP&C 950W would be a good place to start but you may need more, Especially if you plan on expanding the system.

The 2500k has a TDP of 95W. No amount of OC will push it to 200W. A good 750W psu will run that rig with no issues.

Yes indeed a shot in the dark.
Most fans don't use more than 5 watts ;)

On the other hand HDD's can often do 20 watts iirc

I don't think 750W would necessarily be enough.
Stock 6970 x 2 = 450 watts more or less
random stuff including ram, hdds, cooling, blabla = roughly 100 watts
2500K = 95 watts

That would leave you with 105 watts for the OC, I wouldn't do it and I don't like PSU's running @ 90% capacity either.

Definitely the 950W is a decent recommendation as even with 90% PSU load you would still have +- 225 watts left for the overclocking. (make that 305 watts @ 100% but I advise against that kind of stuff ;) )

Using this:

and two 6950 video cards, I come up with a recommendation of 571 watts...IF you're going to add a second video card, then I'd definitely go with at least 700 watts to allow a bit of room for anything extra. (single card 455 watts recommended by the calculator)

Of course, that's just a general recommendation and I don't know your CPU o/c specs, so I just guessed...you could probably get things dialed in a bit closer with accurate numbers.

IMO, the PSU calculators tend to overestimate the power needed...to allow for things we've forgotten and to allow some headroom for the PSU capacitors to age a bit over time.

For all we know by "high air flow" he could be referring to 6k RPM Delta fans (unlikely) and they consume ~50W each.

The 2500k has a TDP of 95W. No amount of OC will push it to 200W. A good 750W psu will run that rig with no issues.

A high OC could easily make this processor consume 200W if he's adding lots of extra voltage. (Which I would assume you'd have to to get it to nearly 5GHz.)
Edit: At 4.8GHz and 1.55V a 2500k would have a TDP of 196W. (I'm not sure if you'd need this much voltage on a SB but 1.55V doesn't seem like a lot considering the frequency.)

Hell, I got a great PSU for sale and at nice price, see sig.

I hear Seasonic is coming out with a Platinum line. Seasonic XP. X meaning X line, P for Platinum. I love my Seasonic X 650 Gold. The Seasonic X x60 models are 99% the same except for a few fine tuning things from what I hear.

There's nothing wrong with the any of the PSU's recommended for the system the OP wants. 950W is definitely overkill, but as others have said it's nice to have the extra room if / when needed (or if you build a new system all together). I'm running the computer in my sig on a 750 watt corsair and it's running just fine. I ran a furmark torture test the other day with prime 95 running in the background and had no issues what so ever. I also have 4 HDDs, 2 opticals, and 5 120mm fans...

You might want to get a watt reader from Lowes or Home Depot, for like 20$ just to see where you are at.... if you want, i'll fire up LinX on Rig 2 and Furmark at the same time and give you a reading.

I've actually been thinking about getting a Kill A Watt for testing around the house. However, I probably won't be ordering one today (but you never know haha). I would assume that my system is loading the 750tx very heaviliy when running furmark + prime. I'm not sure that measuring what it's drawing from the wall is going to help me with anything (as the rig is working as intended). I'm just very curious and would like to see how much power is being used (though maybe it's better that I don't haha).
