Any more info??? Why do you need a new PSU? What Mother Board/Video Card do you have?

Well, based on what you've said, maybe an Antec TruePower 430W.

Be careful - about sustituting components on packaged PC systems. There can be problems with proprietary/non-standard motherboard designs on packaged PCs.

At the very least, be very certain that the power sockets on the motherboard are wired to standard pin-out conventions. If not - up in smoke!

My suggestions:
- If your PS is adequate and problem-free, leave it alone.
- While the e-machines system may be 'upgradeable', I'd think instead about 'replaceable'.

If I read your post correctly, you're considering replacing PS and adding an AGP card. I'd add a new motherboard to the list - assuming the e-machines case can accomodate standard motherboards (size, stand-offs, back-plate).

Hope this helps!

As mentioned above, make sure the connections are standard and the physical size of the PSU is standard. eMachines was known for using odd-sized SFX PSUs in their earlier cases - take measurements.

Looks like a plain midtower. Budget? You could actually get a nice AGP card, and keep it when upgrade to athlon a64 because of this motherboad being so awesome for upgraders, so I'd reccomend getting a somewhat decent PSU, unless you want to replace it AGAIN down the road.

I called eMachines tech support, and asked. It took a whole 3 minutes. It indeed is plain ATX. If you want something that includes a 6P VGA connect for the new high-end video cards, S12-500, but if you're on a tight budget, S12-430, and if you on a really really tight budget XClio Goodpower

I'm sort of liking the Silverstone PSUs with active PFC for budget units now. But the XClios are still OK.

Nope, It is the other way around. eMACHINES are rated number #1 by JD Power and Associates as well as consumer reports, PC World, and PC magazene for reliability. I have known other people who can make this same claim including a guy who runs a buisness and had DELL, IBM (pre lenovo), Compaq, HP, and he said all of those machines gave him some kind of trouble over the years but his oldest computer was an emachine. He told me it never had a problem despite being the oldest of all his pcs. It's no wonder why he never got rid of it.

YOu cannot beat this deal with a stick.
