Planning on a few updates to my PC and want to start with the PSU as its limiting my choices with GPUs and also don't want my options limited when I upgrade the mobo/cpu in a few months time.

My Current system
i5 2500k @ 4.8ghz
Nvidia GTX 670
8gig Ram
3tb HDD
250gig SSD
Jeantech Arctic 600W PSU

I'm going to move from a 24" to 27" monitor (1440p) but for gaming this is not going to happen with a single GTX 670.

The EVGA 850W G2 seems a solid choice to me and will give me some good headroom for a more powerful GPU or to SLI as well as not hindering the overclock new higher core count CPUs.

Does this seem a good choice or should I be looking at something else?

Starting your upgrade plan based on a solid PS is a good strategy.
The SeaSonic X-850 would be another PS (in that wattage range), worth your consideration.

Personally I prefer SeaSonic also. The X-850 gets my vote. On a second note I don't game as much as I did in the past. However, personally I prefer to have one high end GPU than SLI.
