Looking at these what would you recommend? I have only used SeaSonic so I have no experience with the other brands listed. Right now I'm using a 450 watt PSU so any of these will do.

What's prompting you to buy a new unit? If you're using 450W now, why the increase in wattage?

You can forget about EVGA and Thermaltake.

The CX600 is $37 after rebate and promo, making it a really good deal. Unless you're very picky about fan noise, it is easily a better deal than Seasonic G550 $80. However there's also XFX 650W modular bronze unit for only $50 AR AP, it's the best deal of the bunch and has four PCIe connectors to power dual GPU setups. The XFX is Seasonic-built.

If you have no need for that much wattage, Rosewill Capstone 450W $60 would be pretty nice.

The M12II is not worth it at that price, it would be worth it at $50 or so
 
feel free to stick with SS as they make some very reliable units...

if you know your power requirements we'll be able to narrow down the choices further.

Whats prompting me to upgrade is I want to get a new GPU soon and know I need a higher wattage one.

My current rig.

OS - Win 8 64bit
Mobo - GIGABYTE GA-M68MT-S2P
Ram - 4 gigs patriot g series PGS24g6400elk
Cpu - AMD Phenom II X4 925 Deneb 2.8GHz
DVD - memorex DVD 16+/-DL4RWID2 (16xDVD / 48xCDR / 4xDVD+RDL)
Blu-ray - ASUS BR-04B2T (32x (CD) / 8x (DVD) / 4x (BD)
GPU - Diamond 6770
SSD - Kingston HyperX 3K 240 GB
PSU - cheap Rhino 450w
 
OK. Looking at the rig it's not so much the GPU but the PSU itself that hsould prompt the upgrade. Rhino? Never heard. 90% certain it's not capable of 450W peak power at reasonable power quality.

What GPU are you planning to upgrade to? FYI, any current generation graphics card that requires a 500W+ unit will be highly bottlenecked by a 2.8GHz Phenom II X4. At most I would recommend a 7850 2GB which only requires a 6-pin connection and works just fine on a good 400W+ unit... but even that GPU is probably going to be a bit bottlenecked in CPU heavy games.

So, I recommend the Rosewill Capstone. It does have 2x PCIe connectors though and it's quite capable so you can run a 200W graphics card off of it if necessary, but the 7850 for example only consumes 120W.
 
concur with others.... seasonic or corsair are the way to go

i'd keep clear of evga psu's and thermaltake

Yeah it was a cheap PSU I bought at Fry's for testing that became my main PSU after one failed.

As for what GPU I want I'm not 100%. I see a lot of people saying the 7950 is the best bang for the buck..
 
The 7950 is definitely great bang for buck but it's not going to net much higher framerates than a 7850 since your processor is so slow.

I don't know if the Corsair CX is such a good idea. Unless on a very tight budget it's better to buy a unit with decent capacitors that will last longer
 
If the budget allows, any unit with 5 yr warranty and high quality capacitors from a reputable brand, e.g. Rosewill Capstone series, Seasonic G series, PCP MK III series, Corsair TX series. Seasonic S12II and M12II series as well as XFX Core units are also decent although based on an older design
